  • FirstSearch -- 15 databases (descriptions).  All require an authorization code and password; call the Reference Dept. at (217) 477-5228 to obtain these (must be Illinois resident).
  • I-Share (formerly Illinet Online) -- Union catalog of 65 academic and research libraries in Illinois.
  • SILC (Statewide Illinois Library Catalog) -- Integrates WorldCat (below) and the Illinois Library Systems' catalogs, to provide both shelf status and interlibrary loan capabilities in a single searchable interface [more info].
  • WorldCat -- Now available for free, this is the world's largest library catalog, containing 1.5 billion items in 10,000 libraries worldwide.

E-Collections: Downloadable & Streaming Media

  • Mango Languages -- an online system for learning languages; offering 36 languages, including English as a Second Language options.  To log in, enter your Danville Public Library card barcode number (for licensing reasons, access is limited to DPL cardholders).
  • Music Online for Public Libraries -- 600,000+ tracks of streaming music, available free to Danville Public Library patrons for home listening.  Collections include American Song, Classical Music Library, Contemporary World Music, and Smithsonian Global Sound  [Help].
  • My Media Mall -- A collection of downloadable Audiobooks, eBooks, and Videos available free to patrons of Danville Public Library (and other local libraries).  For help getting started, take the Tour, or consult the Quick Start Guide or our eBook Cheat Sheet.  There is a list of compatible devices that work with My Media Mall posted on their homepage.  When signing in to the database, select "Illinois Heartland Library System" as your library; enter your full library card barcode number; and enter the last 4 digits of your phone number as the PIN number.
