For a town of only 34,000, Danville has produced some serious star power. In addition to its most famous sons -- Dick and Jerry Van Dyke, Gene Hackman, Bobby Short, and Donald O'Connor -- Danville was also home to Space Shuttle astronaut Joe Tanner, 1930's actress/torch singer Helen Morgan, author Helen Wells, former speaker of the House "Uncle" Joe Cannon, NFL quarterback and coach Zeke Bratkowski, and many others. Most of them are honored with a series of street markers locaed throughtout the city. An abbreviated map appears below.
